Now keep in mind that there are a few things you need to know about planning your proposal at Moraine Lake. Such as you can no longer drive to the lake and park, but you have to purchase a bus tickets through one of the many companies that have shuttles to Moraine Lake in the area. You will need to allot a few hours to make this all work. I will give you a breakdown of the details to planning your Moraine Lake Elopement below.
How do I get to Moraine Lake?
The road to Moraine Lake is no longer accessible by public vehicles. You now have to purchase a bus ticket from a bus company that will take you to Moraine Lake. There are many options out there, but I have a few personal favourites that I always suggest to my clients to ensure a seamless experience to make your dream proposal at Moraine Lake.
Is Moraine Lake busy?
In short, yes. Moraine Lake is a world renowned photographic location that has been seen in many nationally known landscape photos, movies, and historical documents from around the world. During the open season (Roughly open mid June- Beginning of October) you will often find crowds of tourist visiting the lake. This is something to consider when planning your proposal at Moraine Lake. Will you be ok with others watching and potentially clapping/congratulating you? Or are you set on having a more intimate, quiet moment for your proposal? If you don’t want crowds, don’t worry, there are so many other beautiful lakeside locations I can suggest for you. You can see more inspiration for other locations here.
What time of day is best to propose?
If you’re looking for the best lighting and the least amount of crowds, I would suggest the best time to visit Moraine Lake would be in the evening. The golden hour, which starts around 2 hours before sunset is the best time to plan your proposal for. If you can plan it for a weekday, even better. Weekends are extremely busy, and I do not recommend planning such a special moment when you will have crowds in excess on weekends. Monday-Thursday are your best options for proposing at Moraine Lake. Moraine Lake Proposals can happen between June-through to October. It is closed in the off season due to heavy snowfall.
